As I’m writing this I’m flying 36,000 feet over the Atlantic ocean on my way from a two week vacation in the oh so hot Spain with my girlfriend and teenage daughter and to a little chillier destination – Iceland – where I’m usually located.
This was my 7th time visiting Spain and it never has let me down. The people, the food, the weather, the landscape, the culture, all the little towns and just the way of living is just amazingly beautiful to me.
Of course having Spanish in-laws has played a role in the amounts of visits in the last three years (5 times) as it’s only natural to visit 1-2 times a year. I’ve visited many other countries and I can tell you that not all of them are as exciting to me as Spain.
Enough of that.
The reason I wanted to write this post is not to tell you about how great Spain is (although it is) but to tell you about what I’m thinking about and experiencing when I’m there. Every time I’m there we take short trips (mostly in Andalucia) to experience the landscapes and the little towns. I’ve traveled to the amazing beaches in Tarifa, seen a real Flamenco show in the Alhambra Palace in Granada, visited the oldest man made cave in Europe (6000 years old) in Antequera, experienced the walk of thrones through the streets in Easter ( that one is something else I tell ya), visited Pablo’s Picasso’s house and museum, seen beautiful churches and art while having some of the best seafood I tasted.
All of this has opened my eyes to new things and what I could be experiencing much more if my online business was generating more money. These trips always reminds me of why I actually want my online business to succeed – so I can travel and enjoy more. Really sink into the culture for maybe 1 year without having to worry about returning home on time in order to go back to work so I can repeat this maybe in one year.
Instead I could just whip up my laptop outside on the terrace in evenings to do a little bit of work in order to generate enough income. While I was in Spain I was checking on housing and rental cost in smaller towns and areas as it’s usually the biggest cost of one’s living. Turns out that $500-700 will get you 1-2 room apartments in some nice locations like the Canary Islands. And the cost of food is very low. $1000 a month and you could survive. How hard could it be to make that much a month online? I’m telling you – your freedom is out there – it’s just a matter of creating it.
